Live the actual moment.
Only this actual moment is life.
—Thích Nhất Hạnh
You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day. Unless you’re too busy, then you should sit for an hour.
— Zen Proverb
We all know meditation is beneficial but it seems forever on the “someday” list. Waiting for a time when we aren’t so busy. When we aren’t so stressed. When our mind is more clear and less agitated. Forever just out of reach.
Meditation is hard work. But making time to meditate should not be hard.
That’s why we’re offering this Mindful Monday practice, a guided meditation led by Samovar Tea founder, Jesse Jacobs.
You might be thinking, “…I don’t know how to get started with meditation…” or “I don’t have the time…” or “I won’t be any good…”
That’s natural, but don’t be deterred. This practice is designed for beginners.
If you have a body, if you breathe, if you drink liquid, then you’re ready for this class.
Meditation and mindfulness have proven to improve happiness, reduce stress, increase social bonding, and so much more. For thousands of years people have benefited from these practices because they work
But getting started and maintaining a practice can be a real challenge. That’s why we developed this class to be an easy way to incorporate mindfulness into your everyday life. And because we believe the benefits should be accessible to as many people as possible, we’re offering it for free.
What To Expect
As we spend more and more time sitting in front of our computers and phones and tablets, our bodies tend to get increasingly neglected. Each Mindful Monday session will give you a chance to reconnect with your body, to calm your mind, and to awake to the present moment.
Each session lasts about 30 minutes, beginning with a guided body awareness and breathing practice and finishing with a mindful tea service. Each week we’ll be drinking a different tea. You can pick up a bag from our online tea shop (or bring whatever you might have). We’ll wrap up with a Q & A.
