Do you take reservations in the Lounges?

Yes! Visit the appropriate lounge page to make your reservation:

If you would like to ensure seating for a large group, we offer special reservation packages including reserved tables, set menu with dessert, and teas for everyone in the party. You can pre-select food and tea from our menu to have them specially prepared in family-style platters. We also love hosting private parties at the Lounges.

Do you hold tea tastings?

Yes! We offer private tea tastings for groups of 5-10 people.

Tasting events are a great way to experience a variety of our premium teas and learn about tea. Fill out our inquiry form for more information.

Why don’t you have wireless internet access?

Quality living is about really connecting, with ourselves, and with those around us. We find that creating a place that does not offer internet access, allows for better human connection. Learn more about our company values here.

Do you franchise? When will you open a Tea Lounge in my city?

Do you offer vegetarian, vegan or gluten free food options on your menu?


Take a look at our menu: items with a “v” or “g” to indicate vegan and gluten free food options.

In addition, tea is naturally gluten free. However, since we source our teas from a variety of small farms worldwide, we aren’t able to guarantee that teas have not been processed in gluten free environments in the countries of origin.


Online Shop FAQ

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card will be charged when your order is shipped.

My gift certificate doesn’t work.

First, let’s determine what type of discount code you are using. Coupons from our website or email newsletter are be entered in the first page of the checkout process in the field labeled: “coupon/discount code”.

Living Social promotions and Online Gift Certificates are entered on the second page of the checkout process, at the bottom labeled: “Apply a Gift Certificate”. This is where you would enter the 13-digit redemption code for the online store.

We also have physical gift cards (roughly the same shape as a credit card) which are for use only in our Tea Lounges.

What countries do you ship to?

We currently ship to about 60 countries around the world. Please see the list in the Shipping Rates Calculation section of your shopping cart. Orders are shipped via USPS Priority International.

How long do international orders take?

It depends how long it takes for your package to travel and go through customs. Delivery can take anywhere from two to six weeks. If you placed an international order and it has been in transit for more than this amount of time, please let us know by filling out the Contact Form at the bottom of this page.

I’m buying this tea as a gift. Can you include a note with my gift? Does the shipment show the price of the items in the gift?

Thank you for sharing the Samovar love with a friend! Right now we are not able to offer custom messaging. We are working on improving this and appreciate your patience while we work this out.

Our shipments do not include a receipt, so you do not need to worry about prices being included in your gift shipment.

However, please note that for international shipments, the customs declaration form requires that we submit the prices of all items in the package. This list is usually retained by the customs office, but there is a chance that it may reach the end recipient.

Can I pick up my order at the Tea Lounge?

The warehouse for our online store is eight hours away, so unfortunately we are unable to offer pickup for online orders at the Tea Lounges. The Tea Lounges do sell a selection of teas and tea ware, but the selection is always changing, and is smaller than our online store product line. To ensure you can get all of the items in your order, the best option is ordering via our online store.

What happened to your black tea tins?

We now offer teas in 100% compostable packaging. It is more environmentally friendly and keeps the tea even fresher with a resealable air-tight inner bag.

If you wish to store your tea in a canister, we recommend our double lidded Copper Tea Canister.

Depending on the kind of tea, and where it is grown and packed, we may package them differently. Some Taiwanese oolongs are vacuum sealed at the farm in foil pouches. Some Japanese senchas are sealed in kraft paper pouches at the farm. With the small, artisanal teas we get, there are sometimes variations in the packaging.

I Loved A tea you used to carry, but I don’t see it on your website anymore. What happened?

Nature sometimes makes it hard. Our teas are from small micro-farms from across the globe, and we can’t always get the exact same tea, season to season. This makes it both exciting, as well as sometimes frustrating. We apologize for the inconvenience, but hope you understand that with such specialty items, they sometimes run out.

Do You Sell Tea Bulk?

Yes! You can browse and purchase bulk teas from our online shop. Buying in bulk is a great deal, saving up to 20%!

Why Are Your Teas So Expensive?

Our teas are not cheap, but they are an incredible value.

Samovar Tea Lounge teas are grown using organic and sustainable farming practices, picked and processed by hand and packed in small batches for maximum freshness flavor and health.

Just a couple tablespoons of leaves will yield 10-15 infusions with the incredibly complex and robust flavors and aromas. In fact, our teas are literally a few cents per cup. For the experience, feeling, taste and health benefits we believe that our teas are an excellent price.

What do your teaboxes look like?

Samovar Tea Lounge is the first tea company to introduce a compostable container for our full line of teas.

Samovar Tea Lounge Retail Boxes

We start with post-consumer recycled cardboard and print our labels with rich, colorful water-based inks. Then we fold each box in a unique origami pattern that is resealable and keeps it’s shape—without using any glue. Finally, we pack the tea leaves and herbal blends into air tight bags that look like plastic but are actually made from a wood-based fiber that will fully decompose.

It’s strong, unique, attractive packing that keeps your tea farm-fresh and keeps Mother Earth smiling.

What are your shipping rates?

$7 for orders within the U.S., including Alaska, Hawaii, and APOs. Orders are shipped via UPS, FedEx, or USPS, depending on destination.

For international customers, orders are shipped via USPS Priority International, and shipping rates are calculated based on shipping address and the weight of the items in your order. You can see the calculated shipping costs on the Shopping Cart page during the checkout process.

When will my order ship?

Most orders are processed for shipping the next business day. You will receive an e-mail confirmation with a tracking number once your order has shipped.

What is your return policy?

We want you to be absolutely delighted with your purchase!

If you are unsatisfied with your tea, please contact us (using the form below) and we will help you perfect your brewing methods or select the right tea for you palate.

Any credit issued will exclude discounts and shipping fees.

For returns of unused tea ware, please contact us within 10 business days from the time your order is delivered, and we will be glad to provide you with a prepaid return label. Once we receive the undamaged return with the original packaging intact, we will refund the cost of the returned item, excluding shipping. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund returns of used or damaged items.

Items with damaged packaging will be charged a 25% restocking fee.
